Thinking – Being – Doing
It's no secret that I'm a book publisher in another life. We don't publish just any book that comes in our door – no fiction, no poetry, no children's books. We even turn away business books that aren't a good fit. Since launching The Lip-sticking Society and BlogPaws, we don't plan on publishing many books this year, at all. Mind you, we are working on a truly great leadership book that you'll learn more about in good time.
But, for now…the concentration is on working with our readers and experts to create a truly useful, valuable and content-rich site out of this blog and its pages — especially The Learning Center.
And, we're working like dogs, that's right – like dogs! not cats (cats don't work, everyone knows that – cats have staff, dogs have owners) on BlogPaws, a site for pet lovers and pet bloggers and pet brands and all things pet.
With all that in mind, I find myself spending time thinking about an author we published who's book on leadership: Thinking, Being, Doing… reminds me that leadership and success in business is an active part of life – not just something to contemplate on quiet afternoons. I think Lee Thayer, author of that book, would appreciate the following – and I hope you do, too. It's on a plaque near my desk and reminds me that I am in control of my life and my success in life.
Watch your thoughts, for they become words;
Choose your words, for they become actions;
Understand your actions, for they become habits;
Study your habits, for they will become your character;
Develop your character, for it becomes your destiny.
