Yvonne-trans There are those who will tell you that life, itself, is an adventure. And they’re right, aren’t they? To a point. Each day has its ups and downs, and how you manage those events will dictate their affect on your “being”…as well as on your “success.”

I’m a big fan of thinking, being, doing…especially having read the book by Lee Thayer, an author in our publishing business. I’m a fan of PMA – positive mental attitude, having committed myself to that daily focus for many years, after living in darkness for much of my life.

Maybe that’s why I found this move to CO so … easy. Oh, make no bones about it. The actual move was hard. Preparing our old house for sale was back-breaking (more Tom’s back than mine, but I did my fair share), and driving cross-country in a U-haul was no picnic. It was, and continues to be, an adventure.

However, friends and family are looking at my adventure differently than I do. Many of them have expressed astonishment that I would pull up stakes in Rochester, NY, my home for as long as I can remember, to move cross-country to a state and city I know nothing about…other than what I’ve learned from my daughter who lives here. I’ve been told I’m “brave.” I’ve been told I’m “crazy.” I’ve been told that they, whomever they are, would not have the courage to do this.The-road-to-adventure

Here’s the hitch: courage, bravery, the PMA or whatever you want to call it, that helped Tom and I pack up and move to CO is in each of you, also. Change is inherent in life, and making a change as big as this IS an adventure, if you make it so. We did not leave out the “thinking, being, doing…” part. We did not leave out the “positive thinking” – even knowing our house in Roch. was not really, really sold (on contract does not mean sold).

We put all our eggs in one basket – against all odds – and weighed the pros and cons, and said, “Why not? We’re young – we’ve seen, done, been, all we want to be here…let’s go somewhere new and be, do, and create, there.” And so, basket in hand, off we went.

We’re here now. We’re creating a new life, on a solid foundation of all that we’ve worked on before ever coming here. All eggs are in tact, although we may be exchanging some – news on that to come. We’re facing the newness of Longmont and Denver and the mountains (some day I’ll write a post about how I’m afraid of the mountains), and we’re thrilled.

What lies in store? Will our adventure continue to inspire and amaze us? Will Fate be fickle and throw us a curve ball we will need to stretch to catch, or will WE continue to believe that we are on a golden path, a path of our own making, one that leads us where WE want to go? Hmmm…

I know the answer. If you ask yourself that question – what will your answer be?
